Balance can be deceiving. Balance is a fluctuation and a flowing, not a static state. That's why it is difficult to achieve unless your adjust your perspective. It is often set as a false goal. Consider the image of a circus clown on a board centered on a can. The clown moves with the up and down wave in order to remain on the board. At all times, equilibrium is the constant and is confused with balance. Balance is about choices. Like in relationships, the participants require different amounts of resources available. It's never 50/50. Sometimes work requires more time; sometimes personal issues do. It’s about how to prioritize and agreements you make in your life. The trick is to be sure all elements circle round for a turn at attention, just not at the same time. Once clients adjust the reality of a situation, then scheduling and steps toward actualization and fulfillment can begin. Everyone has the same 24 hours. You must create the image on of what that looks like for you. 1. First decide what you want to accomplish long-term (12+ months out) 2. Choose at least a step a month that moves you closer to that projected outcome. (E.g.—if you want to develop articles to submit, you can begin with a list of topics you'd like to address.) 3. Schedule time in 15 minute increments to develop a pattern over 90 days. 4. Commit in writing in your calendar to complete a step or reschedule the item. (Tip: Write your commitment at the top of each week's page. Also, use a marker to circle your meeting with yourself. These are the first steps toward fulfillment. It is remarkable how clients report how much lighter they feel in their routines when they design such a plan. Let me know how helpful this is for you at mcubas@positivepotentials.com. —MC
